Rebuilding New Orleans in New York Benefit Raises Money, Image for Preservation Resource Center
A jazzy New York benefit brought New York leaders together to help restore the architectural fabric of diverse New Orleans neighborhoods and raised over $300,000 for the cause. Mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg joined CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, entertainer Harry Shearer and Preservation Resource Center Board Chair Bob Brown on the stage of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Allen Room January 17. Fertel Foundation a Highlight of NYRAG
The New York Regional Association of Grantsmakers’ Gulf Coast Recovery Task Force, a group of 50 representatives from foundations and other not-for-profits, learned about the Fertel Foundation and others who are working to rebuild New Orleans in a session on Feb. 26. NYRAG members and the wider New York philanthropic community have raised over $325 million for rescue, recovery and rebuilding efforts – more than any other philanthropic community in the nation.
